PHILADELPHIA (08/13/01) - Jessica Reynolds, the head women's soccer coach at West Chester (Pa.) University last season, has been named the head coach of the Saint Joseph's University women's soccer team. A 1997 graduate of the University of Delaware, she is the third head coach in the program's five-year history. She replaces John Byford who left the University to enter private business. In her first year as head coach at West Chester the Rams compiled a record of 10-9-1, 5-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. In addition to her responsibilities of handling the soccer team, Reynolds also coordinated all aspects of WCU's extensive summer camp program. A four-year starter while playing soccer at Delaware, Reynolds earned her undergraduate degree in education and is currently enrolled in UD's master's in educational leadership program. Reynolds returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach in April of 1999. Her responsibilities for the Blue Hens included planning and implementing practices, recruiting, and handling administrative duties. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Reynolds served as the assistant women's soccer coach at Temple University from January of 1998 until April of 1999. She presently coaches the Under-14 Olympic Development State Team in the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Association. A native of Swarthmore, Pa., Reynolds played her high school soccer at Strath Haven High School.
