WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Saint Joseph's golf team carded a final-round score of 299 and jumped four spots to finish 18th at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate late Tuesday. As a team, the Hawks shot 318-299/617 at the par-71 Kingsmill Resort - River Course (6,831 yards).
Beginning the final round 22nd, Saint Joseph's received four scores in the lower 70s, improving by 19 shots over Monday's opening round. First-round leader, Liberty, claimed the team title with a score of 574.
Individually, junior Zach Smith and sophomore Jim Ridgway tied for 46th place. Smith posted a score of 77-75/152, while Ridgway carded a team-best 73 on Tuesday for a two-round score of 79-73/152. Saint Joseph's junior Bill Macknis and freshman Jimmy Bea tied for 84th with rounds of 79-78/157 and 84-73/157, respectively. Sophomore Josh Webb rounded out the five-man squad with a score of 83-80/163.
Robert Karlsson of Liberty won medalist honors with a score of 70-71/141.
Saint Joseph's returns to action April 6-7 at the Tennessee State Intercollegiate.
