PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior Jen Pfeiffer scored a hat trick and freshman Mo Hawkins added a goal and two assists as the Hawks' women's soccer team posted a 4-1 victory over Drexel Friday evening at Finnesey Field.

Playing at home for the first time this year, Saint Joseph's (1-2-0) got an early goal from Pfeifer to take a 1-0 advantage. With the ball deep in the Dragons' zone, Hawkins made a perfect pass to Pfeiffer in the middle, who then ripped a shot to the upper left corner and past Drexel's Nicole Sinclair at 9:13.

The score remained the same heading into the second half, but a pair of SJU goals in opening nine minutes swung the momentum heavily. Pfeiffer scored her second tally of the game in similar style to her first, taking a Hawkins pass and depositing a shot into the upper right corner at 47:53 to give the Hawks a 2-0 edge.

Hawkins added her second goal of the season in the 54th minute, taking a loose ball at the top of the Drexel box and blasting it into the top right corner to make it a 3-0 game.

Drexel (1-3-0) got a goal in the 61st minute as Alex Vasquez took a long pass from Kim Chiarelli and beat SJU sophomore goalkeeper Christine Neal to the right as she came out to challenge the shot.

Pfeiffer upped the Hawks' cushion to 4-1 with her third goal at 77:31. Off a corner kick from junior Steph Maurer, Pfeiffer headed the ball into the open net to seal the win.

Neal finished the game with three saves as the Hawks outshot Drexel 14-9.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday at noon when the Hawks host NJIT.
