TOWSON, MD - The Saint Joseph's golf team placed 17th in the field of 19 at this past weekend's Lacrosse Home Invitational, hosted by Towson University.
As a team, the Hawks opened play Saturday with a score of 327 at Prospect Bay Country Club (par 72). Saint Joseph's rounded out play with a 12-shot improvement, shooting 315 for a two-round score of 642.
Individually, sophomore Zach Smith led the way for the Hawks, carding a two round score of 82-74/156 to finish tied for 38th. Playing in his second tournament of the season, sophomore Bill Macknis finished tied for 53rd with a score of 78-81/159, while junior Steve Hudacek finished four strokes back with a score of 83-80/163. Senior Colin Corrigan and freshman Josh Webb rounded out the five-man squad, shooting 84-80/164 and 85-85/170, respectively.
Longwood University won the team title with a score of 598, while Michael Mulieri of Loyola won medalist honors with an even par score of 144.
The Hawks return to action April 12-13 at the Princeton Invitational.
