Washington, D.C. - Freshman Jenna Martino scored the lone goal for the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team Sunday, as George Washington defeated SJU, 9-1 at Mount Vernon Field.

The Colonials held the Hawks scoreless for more than 56 minutes before Martino scored on a free position shot with 3:39 remaining. The goal was Martino's 21st of the season. SJU's record falls to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in Atlantic 10 play while GW improves to 8-6 (4-1 A10).

Goalkeeper Suzy Herlihy made nine saves and won a game-high four ground balls in the loss. Saint Joseph's recorded 17 shots and picked up 11 ground balls in the contest.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, April 24th at Lehigh. Opening draw is slated for 4:00 pm.
