PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse lost to Rutgers, 11-5, Tuesday, April 3rd at Finnesey Field. Despite being tied 3-3 at the half, the Hawks were unable to hold on as the Scarlet Knights dominated the scoring in the second for the win.

Saint Joseph's got on the board first as Jessica Westlake scored her first of two goals for the day at 18:47. Rutgers answered back a less than two minutes later and a back-and-fourth battle ensued. Abby Renninger scored next for the Hawks to take the lead 2-1 off a free position opportunity. The goal was Renninger's sixth of the season. The Scarlet Knights notched two more goals to take the lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Jenna Martino evened the score with her first of two for the day, to make it 3-3 going into the break.

Rutgers opened the floodgates in the second half, scoring four goals in the first 12 minutes. Westlake tailed another goal for the Hawks but the Scarlet Knights added two more to maintain their lead. Martino recorded a goal at 7:18 to put the Hawks within four but Rutgers again added two goals to cement its lead.

Goalkeeper Suzy Herlihy played all 60:00 minutes and recorded 14 saves on the day. Sandra Abel and Erika Paige split the time in goal for the Scarlet Knights.

The Hawks return to action Friday, April 6th in their first conference match-up of the season. Game time is set for 3:00 pm on Finnesey Field.
