MERION STATION, Pa. - Alex Pracher worked eight strong innings but the Saint Joseph's baseball team was unable to get the offense going in a 4-0 loss to Central Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Brian O'Keefe led the Hawks with a pair of hits on the day.

Central Connecticut (2-5) did most of its damage in the third inning as Dylan DelaCruz hit a one-out double to score Bobby Migliazza before Mitch Wells singled to center to plate DelaCruz and Jake Matuszak to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead.

Saint Joseph's (2-12) threatened in the seventh as O'Keefe and Kevin Taylor hit back-to-back one-out singles, but a pair of lineouts ended the inning without any damage being done.

Wells legged out an infield single with two outs in the eighth to extend the Blue Devils' lead to 4-0.

The Hawks started off the bottom of the eighth with back-to-back singles and had runners on second and third with one out, but Cody Brown induced a popup and a groundout to escape the inning unscathed.

Pracher allowed four runs on six hits in a season-best eight innings, walking three and striking out four. Brown went the distance for CCSU, allowing eight hits and zero walks for the win.

Saint Joseph's wraps up the opening weekend at its new home field with a Sunday game against Maryland Eastern Shore. First pitch is set for noon.
