ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Saint Joseph's men's golf team posted a strong performance in their first round of the 2008-09 season, shooting 294 as a team and finding itself tied for third at the 15th Annual Navy Fall Invitational.

Playing at the par-71 United States Naval Academy Golf Course, the Hawks carded the third-best score of the day, trailing second-place Siena by three (291) and current leader George Washington by 12 (282).

Individually, Saint Joseph's freshman Jim Bea posted a solid 72 in his first collegiate round of golf to find himself tied for 10th heading into Saturday's final round. Senior Steve Hudacek, junior Bill Macknis, and Josh Webb are all tied for 27th after shooting 74, while junior Zach Smith rounded out the five-man squad with a round of 77.

The final round begins Saturday at 8 a.m.
