MERION STATION, Pa. - Despite a strong effort from starter Kyle Mullen, the Saint Joseph's baseball team lost to Binghamton, 7-0, on Friday afternoon on the Maguire Campus.

Mullen pitched seven and two-thirds innings, scattering eight hits while allowing two runs and striking out four.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Jordon Smucker hit a two-out triple to give Binghamton (1-6) a 2-0 lead.

The Bearcats added insurance in the top of the ninth, pushing five runs across on five hits and an error in the inning.

Stefan Kancylarz had two hits on the day for Saint Joseph's (3-14) as BU's Mike Augliera tossed a complete game shutout. Augliera allowed just three hits on the afternoon while notching 11 strikeouts.

The Hawks will return to the diamond on Saturday afternoon for a game against the University at Buffalo. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
