Saint Joseph's (2-2-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute as senior Carly Salter tallied her first goal of the season. With possession at midfield, freshman Mo Hawkins dribbled down the left side of the field and crossed a pass to a charging Salter. Taking possession, Salter drilled a shot to the lower left corner, past NJIT's goalkeeper Sadie Mele at 27:45.
The Hawks took their 1-0 edge into the second half, but quickly added to it as Pfeiffer scored her fourth goal of the year at 47:48. Off a set piece, junior Steph Maurer passed to the left wing to sophomore Taylor Mallory, who volleyed a pass into the right side of the NJIT box. Pfeiffer slipped past a defender and headed the pass to the right post to extend her team's lead.
Between the pipes, Jancuska made two first-half saves as she earned her first career win and shutout.
As a team, the Hawks outshot NJIT 20-8 and finished with a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Amanda Dotten collected a team-best three shots for the Highlanders, who fell to 1-3-0 on the year with the loss.
