CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Saint Joseph's golf team placed 12th late Tuesday at the Cleveland State Telich Sun Life Financial Invitational Monday at the par-72 Sand Ridge Golf Course. As a team, the Hawks carded a three-round score of 297-301-313/911 to finish 12th in the 14-team field.
Individually, junior Zach Smith paced the Hawks with a three-round score of 73-73-74/220, finishing with a season-best tie for ninth place. Sophomore Josh Webb carded a three-round score of 72-76-75/223 to finish tied for 14th, while freshman Jimmy Bea finished tied for 18th a stroke behind at 73-74-77/224. Rounding out the five-man team was sophomore Jim Ridgway, who shot 79-78-87/244 and classmate Patrick Devlin, who carded a score of 80-85-92/257.
South Dakota State earned the team title by seven strokes with a score of 870, while South Dakota State's Geoff Mead beat out teammate Trent Peterson by one stroke for the medalist title.
Saint Joseph's returns to action October 11-12 at the Big 5 Invitational.
