WESTOVER, Md. (3/30/03) - Despite gusting winds, hard rain and occassional lightening, Saint Joseph's freshman Sean Seese combined for a two-day total of 155 to place fifth individually and help the Hawk golf team to a sixth place finish in the 20 team field at the Drew Upton Tiger Golf Classic played at the Great Hope Golf Club. SJU shot a 314 on a windy first day and mucked their way through to card a 322 on the second day of competition and finished with a 11 strokes behind team champion Penn. With wind gusts of over 40 miles per hour on Saturday and pouring rain and cold tempertures Sunday, scores were unusually high. Seese led a consistent Hawk continget by carding a 78 on the first day and a 77 on the second day. He was six strokes behind medalist Chad Perman from Penn. Junior Brian McDermott (75, 85 - 160), who was in third place after the opening day, and freshman Billy Stewart (80, 80 - 160) tied for 25th place overall. Junior Bill Devlin (81, 81 - 162) was 41st and senior Mike Bosica (84, 84 - 168) tied for 64th overall. The Hawks will compete at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md. this weekend, April 5-6.
