ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Saint Joseph's men's golf team opened the 2007-08 season with a 15th place finish this past weekend at the Navy Fall Invitational.
As a team, the Hawks carded a two-round score of 312-319/631 at the par-71 Naval Academy Golf Course. North Carolina State posted the second lowest team score in tournament history, winning the title with a two-under-par 279-287/566. Host Navy finished second at 589.
Individually, sophomore Zach Smith led the way for Saint Joseph's, finishing in a tie for 46th place. Smith finished with a two-round score of 75-80/155, while junior Steve Hudacek finished tied for 64th after shooting 79-79/158. Senior Colin Corrigan carded an 83-77/160, while freshman Jim Ridgeway posted a score of 79-83/162 in his first collegiate competition. Senior Bob Cunningham rounded out the five-man team with a score of 79-88/167.
Individually, North Carolina State's Hertzog Landman earned medalist honors with a five-under-par 68-69-137.
Saint Joseph's returns to action September 24-25 at the Celeveland State Invitational.
