PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team dropped its home opener Sunday afternoon, falling to Drexel, 11-4, at Finnesey Field.

The Dragons were stellar in the opening half, holding the Hawks to just five shots, while opening up a 5-0 advantage.

Drexel extended its lead to nine, 9-0, as the Dragons tallied the first four goals of the second half.

The Hawks got on the board with 11:36 left in the game on a goal by senior Kristina Jaggers, while juniors Abby Renninger and Christina Colangelo scored back-to-back to bring SJU within 9-3.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, it wasn't enough as Drexel outscored Saint Joseph's 2-1 to close out the game.

Renninger paced the Hawks' offense with two goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Suzy Herlihy made nine saves.

Drexel's Jessica Bill led all scorers with four goals and an assist, while Lauren LaBella made seven saves and allowed only one goal to earn the win.

Saint Joseph's falls to 1-1 on the season, while Drexel improves to 4-1.

The Hawks return to action this Tuesday, March 13, when they travel to Villanova for a 4:30 p.m. start.
