HARTFORD, Conn. - The Saint Joseph's golf team finished tied for 11th at the rain-shortened Hartford Hawks Invitational after shooting an opening-round 311 and a posting a score of 319 in Tuesday's dreary second round to finish at 630.
Playing at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course (par 72 - 6,992 yards), Saint Joseph's senior Josh Webb led the way, firing rounds of 74 and 80 to tie for 29th at 154. Junior Jimmy Bea tied for 34th with a score of 79-77/156, while senior Tyler Mefford shot 79-82/161 to finish tied for 56th. Junior Kyle Sargis placed 59th at 79-83/162, with Andrew Jaskel rounding out the five-man squad at 87-80/167 to place 71st.
St. John's won the team-title, besting the 15-team field with a score of 585. Hartford's D.J. Lantz earned medalist honors, finishing at 142.
Originally scheduled for three rounds, the Hartford Invitational was shortened to two rounds due to consistent rain.
The Hawks return to action at the Big 5 Classic on October 9 and 10.
