PHILADELPHIA – Claudine Andre (Women’s Track and Field) and Chris Blewitt (Men’s Lacrosse) have been selected as the recipients of Saint Joseph’s Class of 1950 Awards as the school’s top graduating student-athletes. They will be among the honorees at the University’s Commencement on May 19.

Andre left her mark as one of the most decorated jumpers in SJU women’s track and field history, finishing her career as the 2018 Atlantic 10 indoor champion and 2018 ECAC indoor high jump champion as well as the school recordholder in the indoor high jump (5’ 9 1/4”). Andre represented Saint Joseph’s University at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Rounds and was a three-time ECAC All-East Team selection and six-time A-10 medalist in the high jump.

A team captain, the senior has competed in the high jump 44 times in her career, turning in 11 first-place finishes and 11 second-place finishes; she has finished in the field’s top five in 33 of 43 performances and has posted a mark of 5’ 7” or better 24 times.

Andre, from Upper Darby, Pa., will receive her degree in chemistry and plans to attend pharmacy school next year.

A four-year starting attackman for the Crimson and Gray, Blewitt will leave Hawk Hill ranked in the program’s top 10 in points, goals, and assists. He has scored in 42 career games, which includes 14 games with three or more goals, and has recorded a point in all but four games of his career.

A native of Lincoln Park, N.J., the two-time Northeast Conference First Team attackman is a three-time NEC Commissioner’s Honor Roll member and was selected the 2017 NEC Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was also named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Men’s At Large First Team and is a two-time Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team pick.

Blewitt was also heavily involved in community service activities over his four years on Hawk Hill and spearheaded the SJU men’s and women’s lacrosse programs’ efforts in dedicating a home doubleheader to the One Love Foundation this March. He is a member of Saint Joseph’s Delta Sigma Pi national professional business fraternity and will begin work with Mizuho Securities USA as an analyst in its Capital Markets group in Summer 2018.
