The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team dropped its regular-season finale to Fordham, 51-41, Saturday afternoon at Hagan Arena. Despite the loss, the Hawks secured the eighth seed for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship and will host ninth-seeded George Washington on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a First Round matchup.

Finishing the the schedule tied alongside the Colonials and Massachusetts at 7-9 in conference play, Saint Joseph's (11-18) earned the higher seed via tiebreaker as it went a combined 2-0. George Washington topped the Minutewomen in its regular-season matchup to claim the ninth seed.

On Senior Day at Hagan Arena, the Hawks and Rams traded baskets in the first half as redshirt freshman Katie Jekot's floater in the final seconds of the second quarter gave Saint Joseph's a 27-26 lead at the half.

A free throw by sophomore Lula Roig to start the third quarter pushed the Hawks' lead to 28-26, but the Rams took over from there.

Holding SJU to 4-23 shooting in the second half (17.4 percent), Fordham pushed ahead 36-33 by the end of the third quarter and outscored the Hawks 15-8 in the final period to pull away.

Individually, Roig led Saint Joseph's with 11 points and three assists, with senior Alyssa Monaghan adding 10 points and classmate Whisper Fisher finishing with six points to go with a team-best five rebounds and three blocked shots. As a team, the Hawks shot just 29.2 percent from the field (14-of-48), hit 6-of-20 from three-point range and 7-of-10 from the foul line.

Bre Cavanaugh led Fordham with a game-high 26 points as the Rams finished the game shooting 43.9 percent (18-for-41).

For the second consecutive year, campus sites will host the First Round of the A-10 Championship on Tuesday, with the remainder of the tournament to be held at Duquesne's A.J. Palumbo Center, from March 8th through 10th.
