Saint Joseph’s head basketball coach Phil Martelli announced that Troy Holston has signed a commitment letter to join the program as a graduate transfer from the University of South Florida. Holston will be able to play immediately for the Hawks and have two years of eligibility.

A 6-4 guard originally from Queens, N.Y., Holston battled knee injuries while at USF that caused him to sit out two seasons, but graduated in May with a degree in interdisciplinary social sciences.

Holston, who attended Oldsmar Christian High School in Florida, sat out the 2017-18 season after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus suffered in the summer of 2017. He also missed the 2015-16 campaign after suffering a torn ACL following his freshman year and was granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA.

In 2016-17, Holston played in 26 games and made 19 starts, averaging 9.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He topped the Bulls in three-pointers made (54) and attempted (171), while scoring double figures 13 times.
