Saint Joseph’s will face Wake Forest in the opening round of the inaugural Myrtle Beach Invitational on November 15 at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C., it was announced by ESPN Events. The 11:30 a.m. game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
The Hawks will then meet either UCF or Cal State Fullerton in the second round on November 16 and will close out play in the tournament on November 18.
It marks the first meeting between the teams since the #1-seeded Hawks defeated the Demon Deacons in the 2004 NCAA East Regional Semifinals in Saint Joseph's memorable run to the Elite Eight, led by the Consensus National Player of the Year Jameer Nelson.
Other participating teams in the Myrtle Beach Invitational are Monmouth, Valparaiso, West Virginia and Western Kentucky
In the bracket-format tournament will feature 12 games over three days. The teams compete once per day, regardless of results. The two remaining undefeated teams will face off in the championship game on Sunday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. that will air on ESPN2.
