NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After placing third to lead the Hawks to the team title at the 2019 Monmouth Kick-Off Invitational on Saturday morning, Saint Joseph's junior Matthew Scarpill has been selected the Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. Additionally, freshman Colin Kane has been tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week. The honors mark the first conference accolades for both collegiate careers.

Scarpill led the way for the Crimson and Gray in the SR./JR. race with a third-place finish (18:56.2 PR) in a field of 35 to lead the trio of himself, senior captain Zach Michon (4th, 18:57.0) and junior Bobby Hastie (5th, 18:57.9) to a group spread of just 1.7 seconds.

Kane led all rookie Hawks in the SO./FR. 6k race with a sixth-place showing in a field of 48, clocking in with a time of 19:32.4 in his collegiate debut.

Scarpill, Kane, and select Hawks will next race the George Mason Invitational this Friday, September 13 at 5:15 p.m. The 8k race will be held at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va., the site of this year's Atlantic 10 Championship.
