NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - Posting a 2-0 record with a 1.91 ERA in her first weekend of collegiate play, Saint Joseph's freshman pitcher Amanda Herr has been named the Atlantic 10 Softball Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Making her collegiate debut over the weekend, Herr made three appearances and collected six strikeouts, while allowing just five earned runs over 18.1 innings of work as the Hawks went 4-1 at the District 9 Citrus Blossom Classic.

In her first collegiate game, Herr posted a solid performance in a complete-game victory over Stetson. Despite allowing 12 hits, the rookie limited the Hatters to just two runs and struck out three in a 6-2 victory. She followed with another complete game win Saturday as she allowed one unearned run and struck out three in SJU's 3-1 win over Bethune-Cookman. Herr capped the weekend on Sunday tossing 4.1 innings of relief versus Troy in an extra-innings loss.

The Hawks return to action on March 1 at the District Classic with games against Brown (1 p.m.) and Bucknell (3 p.m.).
