CLEARWATER, Fla. - Saint Joseph's Molly Kapala hit her first collegiate home run, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks' softball team capped play at the Under Armour Showcase with a 3-1 loss to IPFW in six innings on Sunday.

Fort Wayne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but the Hawks cut it to 2-1 in the top of the third behind the first collegiate home run for Kapala.

The Mastodons pushed the lead back to two with a run in the bottom half of the third to make it 3-1.

Heading into their final at-bat, the Hawks rallied in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3. However, due to travel restrictions, IPFW was unable to get its final at-bats, therefore reverting the score to the final full inning and handing the Mastadons the 3-1 win.

For the game, Kapala went 1-for-2 with a home run, while Raelynn Genovese accounted for SJU's second hit.

In the circle, Abigail Stroud fell to 0-2 despite allowing two unearned runs over 1.2 innings of work.

The Hawks (3-12) are back in action on March 16 versus Fairfield and Bethune-Cookman at the Michelle Smith Spring Break Invitational
