CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's softball team dropped a pair of games during the second day of the Under Armour Showcase as the Hawks fell to SIUE, 11-2, in five innings then battled USC-Upstate to extra innings before falling, 3-2.

Versus SIUE, Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. 

Kaylyn Zierke scored the first Hawks' run off a RBI single by Stacey Mayer. Following a double by Madison Clarke, Taryn Grober drove in Mayer to make it 2-0 on an RBI single.

SIUE answered with a pair of runs in the third to tie the game at 2-2 and went on to score nine more runs over the next two innings, while holding SJU scoreless for the victory.

For the game, Mayer and Grober both went 2-for-2 for the Hawks. Clarke fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss after allowing four earned runs over three innings, while striking out two.

In the nightcap, the Hawks held a 2-1 lead midway through the game, but USC-Upstate rallied with a late run to force extra innings.

In the eighth, USC-Upstate would score the game-winning run to earn the 3-2 win.

The Hawks  (3-11) cap play at the event on Sunday with an 11:15 a.m. matchup with IPFW.
