NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Nathaniela Bourdeau couldn't be stopped this weekend as she won the 60m, 200m, and 4x400m relay, and senior Sarah Regnault turned in a pair of ECAC-qualifying runner-up finishes to lead the Saint Joseph's women's track and field squad at the 13th annual Giegengack Invitational, held at Yale University's Coxe Cage this past Friday through Saturday. The Hawks took home three individual victories and a relay win alongside four ECAC-qualifying performances at the unscored meet.
On Friday evening, Bourdeau cruised through the 200m in a season-best time of 25.59 to top the field of 26 sprinters. Bourdeau then topped the 60m preliminaries field on Saturday afternoon, clocking in at 7.84 to top the 13-member field. Just an hour later, Bourdeau flew to a season-best time of 7.77 to take the title.
On Saturday evening, Bourdeau ran a 57.89 lead-off split as she, junior Steph Toland (59.48), freshman Tamar Bourdeau (58.32), and freshman Sophia Recchilungo (59.74) crossed the finish line of the 4x400m relay in 3:55.77 to win the event.
Senior Courtney Foster added an ECAC-qualifying win in the 400m as the second-fastest indoor time of her collegiate career (56.32) won the 16-member field. Foster won her heat by over two entire seconds.
Regnault raced to a collegiate-best 1000m time of 2:54.10 to place second and to qualify for ECACs in the event and also led off the runner-up Distance Medley Relay that included Toland, senior Kiersten Moylan, and junior Cassidy Weimer to an ECAC-qualifying 12:04.51.
Senior long sprinter Angelena Minniti also qualified for ECACs in the 500m, with a collegiate-best time of 1:15.25.
Foster added a third-place finish in the 200m (season-best 25.77) while sophomore Kelly Liebl turned in a runner-up finish in the 400m (58.72) and a fourth-place finish in the 200m (25.84).
Freshman Michaela Urbach placed second in the 800m (2:20.48 PR), while Moylan placed third (2:20.93) and Weimer added a fourth-place showing in the 1000m (2:56.38).
Senior June Chiango placed second in the 5000m (season-best 18:52.32), while senior Julia Jenkins (5:13.52 PR) and sophomore Britton Gagliardi (5:14.43 PR) added third- and fourth-place finishes in the mile.
Saint Joseph's returns to action at a pair of meets next weekend. The Hawks will race the Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday, February 10 beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the Monmouth Winter Invitational at Monmouth's OceanFirst Bank Center on Saturday, February 11 with the start time yet to be announced.
The 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships run the following weekend, from Saturday, February 18 through Sunday, February 19 in Fairfax, Va.
