LANCASTER, Pa. – Eight members of the Saint Joseph's field hockey program were selected to take part in the upcoming Young Women's National Championship to be held at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex.
Rising seniors Corrine Gerber, Courtney Gerber, and Emily Sayre and rising juniors Nicholl Fenton, Sara Hayes, Emily Henry, Jordan Olenginski, and Emily Peters were selected for the tournament, which will begin on June 14. All eight were also part of the initial High Performance Training program from which the athletes competing at the YWNC were selected.
The High Performance program allows athletes the opportunity to work with a selection of collegiate coaches – including Saint Joseph's head coach Lynn Farquhar and assistant coaches Liz Sack and Beth Riley – under the USA Field Hockey national setup and a chance to play alongside other elite collegiate players. The YWNC also serves as a selection opportunity for the United States National Team, the National Development Squad, and the U-21 National Team.
Athletes selected for the Young Women's National Championship will be placed on one of eight squads for the tournament. Play begins on June 14 and runs through June 18.
