After leaving the Hagan Arena at 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, we've had a very busy but exciting first two days.

Once we landed at 10 a.m. LA time, we went straight to Hollywood. There we went on the Starline tours. This tour took us around Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Rodeo Drive. We went to the Hollywood sign and saw an overlook of LA. And we were able to see some very interesting celebrity houses such as Will Farrell, Ben Stiller, Bob Barker, Dr. Phil, Jennifer Aniston, and Courtney Cox. After that we piled back into the team vans and headed to our hotel in Santa Barbara. We enjoyed a team dinner before calling it a day and heading to bed.

On Thursday, we woke up and had a very inspiring practice. After that ,we hurried back to our hotel and departed towards Hollywood to be guests on the show Let's Make a Deal. After a few hours of auditions and screenings we were finally able to be a part of the audience. There were many different costumes but our St. Joe's soccer uniforms were by far the best. The show was very exciting and we all had a blast. Even though no one was picked as a contestant, there will be a few of us on TV when it airs.

After that we had a team dinner in Malibu right off the coast, and finally headed back to the hotel to get a good night sleep before our first game of the season!

We woke up on Friday, had breakfast at the hotel and departed for a morning jog with our coaches. We ran for fifteen minutes and stretched out, preparing our legs for our big game at night.

After a short break, we went to downtown Santa Barbara. It was a cute area with lots of shops and restaurants. We walked around for a couple of hours and enjoyed a nice lunch outside. Then, we went back to the hotel to get all of our game gear.

We piled in the vans and departed for Santa Barbara's beautiful campus for our first game of the season. We arrived on campus, put on all of our gear, and headed out to the field for our warm up.

When it became 5:00, our season opener began. The experience was unlike any other; the highest level of competition, the perfect weather, the beautiful, flawless field surrounded by tons of palm trees and loud fans. It was definitely a tough first game, but we learned a lot from it. It was a very physical game, and even though we were caught off guard, it was a good test to see where we are at as a team.

We are excited for the rest of the season and know that we need to continue to improve every time we step on the field.

We started our day off heading back to the beautiful campus of UCSB. After a solid hour and a half of hard work and fun, we took ourselves on our own tour of UCSB's luxurious campus.

Once all cleaned up, we headed to State Street in downtown Santa Barbara where we had lunch, did some shopping and had some fun. Following doing some damages in the stores, we headed to the pier and beach where we took a bunch of team pictures!

We ended our wonderful day with getting dolled up and headed back to downtown Santa Barbara for an excellent Italian dinner at ALDOS, where we celebrated Devin Griffin's 18th birthday.

After our on-the-go trip to California, I think it's safe to say that myself, and the rest of the SJU women's soccer team were eager to get back to campus and relax in our own beds. Unfortunately, relaxing wasn't in our futures last Monday, as we landed in Philly at 6 a.m. only to unpack and start our first day of classes.

After classes were done, everyone on the team had one thing on their minds: sleep. However, Tuesday was lingering over everybody's heads knowing that we had 6:15 a.m. practice and a Summit session to wake up to. We all fought through it as a team though, knowing that we had a big weekend ahead of us against Drexel and NJIT, and it was imperative that we win both to put our record back at .500 (2-2).

Everything started to fall into place as the week progressed, as we all got accustomed to our schedules of practice, class, and sleep. Practices were looking sharper and sharper and I had good feelings about our up-and-coming games.

Friday came, and we were ready to start fresh and make a statement. Although we were falsely informed about Drexel's formation, we were able to regroup and play our game, ultimately winning 4-1.

Waking up Saturday was great, we had some confidence from our win and we were all excited to go as a team to the Philadelphia Union vs. Kansas City Wizards game after practice. Although their game ended in a 1-1 tie, we were able to watch great soccer and get ourselves psychologically ready for Sunday's game. Sunday was ideal weather for soccer and the girls were all pumped and ready to finish the weekend strong.

The game against NJIT flew by thanks to our collective team effort and we pulled out with a 3-0 win. This was a great week and from here I only foresee better outcomes, and a stronger, happier team.
