The Saint Joseph’s men’s rowing team kicks off the 2019 season at the Murphy Cup on Saturday, March 23 on the Cooper River, hosted by Temple. (Note change in venue - was previously the Schuylkill River)
* Due to the forecast of high winds, the Hawks will not be participating
The Hawks are coming off consecutive appearances in the IRA National Championships and finished 2018 with their highest-ever final national ranking of 17th. SJU also won three Dad Vail Regatta medals in each of the last two seasons.
“It’s time for us to go to the starting line and find out where our launch point is for the 2019 season. We have had some strong races at this event the last two years and we are eager to see what we can do with this year’s roster. There are 14 programs entered on Saturday. It’s a really good field to open the schedule,” said head coach Mike Irwin, who is starting his eighth season at the helm.
