PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's men's track and field senior standout Torey Doaty is headed back to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Rounds for the third consecutive year, it was announced through the release of the official declaration list on Thursday morning. Senior 3000m steeplechaser Dan Savage has also qualified and will make his first appearance at the meet, which will be held from Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 in Lexington, Ky.

The three days of competition will take place at the University of Kentucky's Track and Field Complex and will feature the top collegiate athletes east of the Mississippi River. For each individual event contested at each of the preliminary championships competition sites, the top 48 declared student-athletes are accepted into competition.

A live stream for all three days of competition will be made available through WatchESPN.com, while live results will also be available through NCAA.com.

Doaty's season-best 400m hurdles time of 52.39, set at the IC4A Outdoor Championships on May 14, ranks 44th on the declared list entering Thursday's first round trials, set for 5:00 p.m. The top 24 finishers out of the first round will advance to Friday's quarterfinal at 7:15 p.m. The top 12 finishers out of the quarterfinal will advance to Oregon.

The senior has gone sub-53.00 in three of his last four appearances to close the regular season, which included a time of 52.82 at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational and a time of 52.87 at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in addition to his season-best time at IC4As.

Doaty finished 42nd in the event as a junior last spring and 39th as a sophomore in 2015.

Savage took 4.35 seconds off of his previous season- and collegiate-best time in the 3000m steeplechase to clock in at 9:04.05 at the IC4A Outdoor Championships on May 12; the improved time moved him from 59th to 50th among all 3000m steeplechasers in the east, and the senior will rank 46th on the declared list entering Friday's quarterfinal at 8:20 p.m. The top 12 finishers out of the quarterfinal will advance to Oregon.

The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Rounds will also run from May 25-27, hosted by the University of Texas at Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, TX.

The qualifiers out of these preliminary rounds will advance to the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, to be held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from June 7-10. 14 Hawks have qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the program's history; Kevin McDonell was the most recent, qualifying in the 10,000m in 2013.
