PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team lost its first Atlantic 10 regular season match for the first time since the 2015 season as the Hawks fell to La Salle in overtime, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

After both teams played to a 2-2 draw in regulation, it was the Explorers who took advantage of their first scoring chance. Off a long pass up the middle by Kristin Haugstad, Madison Bower collected the pass and quickly played a shot past the Hawks' goalkeeper Grace Bendon and she came out to challenge.

In the first half, Saint Joseph's (6-3-1, 1-1-0 A-10) took a 1-0 lead at 6:34 as Gabrielle Vagnozzi scored off a centering pass by Bridget Galen.

La Salle (7-3-1, 2-0-0 A-10) answered back in the second half to take a 2-1 lead early. Danielle Marx scored the equalizer at 51:00 off a corner kick, while Maci Bower put La Salle ahead with a goal at 58:26.

In the back and forth match between city rival, Saint Joseph's was able to tie the game at 2-2 thanks to a Morgan Bower goal. The Hawks' rookie controlled a lead ball, and juggled past a defender and sent a shot by a challenging goal keeper to even the match at 2-2 at 77:06.

The score would remain the same until the extra frame.

For the game, Bendon made five saves, including a pair of highlight-film ones.

The Hawks, who went 9-0-1 in conference play last season, last lost a home conference game on October 11, 2015.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Thursday when it hosts George Mason at 7 p.m.
