PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team fell to Hofstra, 75-64, Thursday evening at Hagan Arena.

The Hawks (3-8), who were led by junior Chelsea Woods' team-high 20 points and eight rebounds, entered the fourth quarter of a tightly-fought game down just 48-45. But that would be as close as SJU would get as the Pride quickly took control.

Behind a 12-3 run to open the final period, Hofstra (7-3) opened a 60-48 lead on a steal and layup by Krystal Luciano with 6:21 to play.

The Pride would pull away by as many as 18 from there as they took advantage of seven fourth-quarter turnovers by the Hawks, turning them into 12 point, and finished going 11-of-12 from the field in the last 10 minutes.

Over the opening 30 minutes, neither team led by more than eight minutes with four lead changes and three ties.

As a team, Saint Joseph's went 25-of-56 from the field (44.6 percent), 5-of-15 from behind the arc and 9-of-16 from the foul line (56.3 percent).

Joining Woods in double figures were sophomore Alyssa Monaghan with 17 points and senior Amanda Fioravanti with 14 points.

At the other end, Ashunae Durant led all players with 28 points as Hofstra finished the game 30-of-55 from the field (54.5 percent), 5-of-8 from three-point range (62.5 percent) and 10-of-16 from the foul line (62.5 percent).

Saint Joseph's returns to action on December 28 when the Hawks host James Madison at 7 p.m.
