ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's golf team is tied for second place after Friday's opening round of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship. Playing at the par-72  Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort (7,024 yards), the Hawks shot 298 and are tied for second with VCU, just one shot behind Davidson in first.

Leading the way for SJU, sophomore Wills Montgomery shot 71 (-1) and is in second place, while junior Michael O'Brien is tied for fourth after carding a round of 73 (+1). Senior Ross Pilliod and rookie J.T. Spina each shot 77 (+5) and are tied for 23rd with junior Richard Riva tied for 45th at 82 (+10).

Davidson's Jack Lang sits atop the individual leaderboard after posting score of 68 (-4).

The second round begins Saturday morning.
