BRONX, N.Y. – Led by the All-ECAC performances of senior captains Lindsey Oremus and Lucy Harmon, the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad closed its season with a seventh-place finish in a field of 18 squads at the 2018 ECAC Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 197 points with an average 3.06-mile run time of 18:00.20.
For the final time as a cross country Hawk, Oremus led the Crimson and Gray. With an average mile pace of 5:44, the senior captain crossed in 17:32 for 20th in a field of 153.
For her collegiate cross country career, Oremus raced 29 times. She finished as SJU's top runner in 22 of them, including in seven of 12 championship races.
Harmon turned in a 33rd-place performance, checking in at 17:50.
For their top-40 finishes, Oremus and Harmon earned All-ECAC honors, both for the second time in their careers.
Senior captain Elaine Estes (42nd, 18:01) turned in SJU's third-fastest performance while Emily Bracken (48th, 18:08) and Emily Schaeffer (66th, 18:30), the junior duo that will be expected to lead the Crimson and Gray next year, rounded out SJU's scoring group.
Oremus, Harmon, Estes, Gagliardi, and senior Sara Rankin (108th, 19:06), who finished as SJU's #8 runner, closed their collegiate cross country careers with their performances in the Championship Race while seniors Julia Donahue (52nd, 20:38) and Erin McGuire (77th, 21:43) closed theirs in the Coaches Race.
Redshirt freshman Thi Nguyen led 14 Hawks in the Coaches Race (3.06-mile) with a time of 19:22 for 21st in the field of 82.
The meet officially concludes the 2018 cross country season. The 2018-19 women's track and field indoor campaign will kick off on Saturday, December 1, at the Fastrack Season Opener in Staten Island, N.Y. (Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex).
