Saint Joseph’s (15-15; 10-8 A-10) has earned the fourth seed and a double bye in the 2018 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship next week at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The Hawks will open play in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. with the opponent to be determined. Rhode Island, which won the regular season title with a 15-3 conference record, will be the No. 1 seed.

Entering today’s final league games, the Hawks needed a victory over La Salle and losses by George Mason and Saint Louis to notch the fourth seed. The Hawks won their finale, 78-70, and then saw Richmond defeat George Mason, 93-79, and St. Bonaventure edge Saint Louis, 64-56.

The seeding caps a remarkable run for the Hawks, who had had a five-game losing in late January and early February. Saint Joseph’s has gone on to win three consecutive games and six of the last seven heading into the conference championship. The Hawks captured the A-10 title in 2014 and 2016.

In Friday’s quarterfinal, the Hawks will await the winner of the game between No. 5 George Mason versus No. 12 La Salle- No. 13 Massachusetts, to be televised on the NBC Sports Network. A win in the quarterfinal will send SJU into Saturday’s semifinal at 1 p.m. with the broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

All five days of the championship will be televised. Stadium will air Wednesday’s first-round games while NBCSN will carry the entire second round Thursday and all four quarterfinal matchups Friday.
