• Saint Joseph’s held on to defeat Richmond, 72-70, on Saturday night for their second A-10 road win of the year. Nick Robinson led with a career-high 20 points while Shavar Newkirk added 18 points
• In the last three games, Shavar Newkirk is averaging 22.3 points and has made 5-of-11 three-point attempts and 26-of-30 free throws. In those same contests, Nick Robinson is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 54.2 percent from the field
• Chris Clover has started the past two games for James Demery (ankle), although Demery came off the bench and played 28 minutes at Richmond
• Saint Joseph’s ranks third in the nation in fewest turnovers with 273

• Nick Robinson scored a career-high 20 points and Shavar Newkirk had 18, including a pair of free throws at :14, as SJU edged Richmond, 72-70, at the Robins Center
• After Richmond cut the Hawks’ lead to 70-68 on a pair of free throws at :47 the teams traded turnovers and Newkirk ended up with the ball of a steal by Taylor Funk. The senior made both free throws to give SJU a 72-68 lead before a tip-in at :08 pulled Richmond within 72-70. The Hawks committed a turnover with under seven seconds to go setting up a last shot by Richmond, but it was off the mark as time expired
• SJU led the entire first half before Richmond used an 11-2 run to take its first lead of the game, 46-44, at 11:05. From there, the game was nip and tuck with the teams trading points and leads until Newkirk scored six straight to give the Hawks a 62-56 lead with four minutes left
• A UR three-pointer cut the Hawks’ lead to 62-59, but threes from Funk and Robinson sandwiched one by Khwan Fore to make it a 68-62 game. A Spider basket made it 68-64 before a dunk by Robinson upped SJU’s advantage to 70-64, leading into the final minute of play
• Robinson made 8-of-16 from the field for his first career game of 20 points and added eight rebounds. Funk and James Demery scored 12 points each

• The Hawks were faced with their second straight down-to-the-wire game at Richmond, but prevailed, 72-70
• Shavar Newkirk’s free throws at :14 provided the winning points as Richmond scored at :08 and had the final shot as time expired
• It was the eighth time this year that a game came down to the final possession and SJU has won just two of those
• Earlier last week the Hawks fell to George Mason, 79-76 on a three-pointer at the buzzer

• Saint Joseph’s is 3-11 against ranked teams over the past four seasons
• The last win over a Top 25 team came on Feb. 17, 2016 when SJU defeated #15 Dayton at Hagan Arena, 79-70, snapping a five-game losing streak against ranked squads
• SJU played #4 Villanova in December, losing at home, 94-53

• Nick Robinson scored a career-high 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting to pace the win at Richmond; he also added team-highs of eight rebounds and five assists
• In the past three games, Robinson is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists; he’s shooting 54.2% (19-35) from the field, has made 5-of-6 three-point attempts and 6-of-7 from the foul line
• He had a then-career-high 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. Duquesne for his first-ever double-double while adding three steals and three blocks in the win
• Robinson had 13 points and eight rebounds against VCU on Jan. 3 while hitting a career-best 11-for-14 from the foul line
• In A-10 play, the sophomore is converting a team-best 83.3 percent from the foul line

• Senior Shavar Newkirk is giving it his all in the final weeks of his career
