NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s freshman forward Emily Henry was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Henry earned the award for the second time this season; she was previously tabbed for the weekly honor on September 25. She shared the honor this week with Davidson’s Nellie Turnage.
The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, native notched an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Davidson that made the Hawks the Atlantic 10 regular season champions for the second consecutive season. For the season, Henry has totaled nine goals and four assists for 22 points; she ranks third on the team in goals and points, tied for sixth in the conference in goals, and is second among all A-10 rookies in goals and points behind teammate Quinn Maguire.
Currently ranked #17 in the nation, the Hawks will head to Amherst, Massachusetts, for the 2017 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship as the tournament’s top seed. The Hawks will meet Richmond on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the semifinals.
