EASTON, Pa. - Sophomore Rose Barrett placed 14th in a field of 47 racers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a third-place team finish in a field of four squads at the Leopard Invitational 6k, held at Lafayette College's Metzgar Fields on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 90 points and an average 6k time of 25:38.75.

Paced by a 6:40.3 mile time, Barrett crossed the finish line in 24:52.8. It marks her second consecutive meet in which she has finished as SJU's top runner.

Rookies Kayla Martin (25:34.6) and Morgan Patten (25:34.9) finished next for the Hawks in 28th and 29th, respectively, while junior Erin McGuire (33rd, 26:03.4) and sophomore Joanna DeSousa (34th, 26:08.3) rounded out the scoring for the Crimson and Gray.

Sophomores Michaela Urbach (35th, 26:17.3) and Samantha Mayers (36th, 26:39.8) finished as SJU's #6 and #7 runners.

Saint Joseph's begins championship season in two weeks, when the Hawks head to the 2017 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship, to be held at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. on Saturday, October 28. The 5k race, in which the Hawks were predicted to finish seventh as a squad, is slated to begin at 10:50 a.m.
