NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After placing second at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational earlier this week, Saint Joseph's junior Ross Pilliod has been recognized for his performance as he was named Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced on Friday.

Playing at the par-72 Links at Hiawatha Landing Championship Tees (7,104 yards), Pilliod carded a two-round score of four-under-par 70-70/140 to finish tied for first with Monmouth's Nikolas Maff. Unfortunately, no playoff hole was held and Maff won medalist honors on a tie breaker, the lowest final round.

As a team, the Hawks shot 295-304/599 to place seventh in the 17-team field.

Pilliod and the Hawks are back in action at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on October 16.
