GILBERT, Ariz. – The Saint Joseph’s field hockey team rose to 14th in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches Poll, which was released by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hawks are off to a 3-0 start, earning wins over Hofstra, Drexel, and then-#19 Rutgers.  SJU is the highest-ranked program outside the ACC, Big Ten, or Ivy League.

North Carolina remains atop the poll, garnering 37 of a possible 45 first-place votes.  Duke and Connecticut moved up one slot each to second and third, respectively, while Maryland slipped two spots to fourth and Princeton held steady in fifth.

Saint Joseph’s next opponent, Syracuse, came in at #23 in this week’s poll.  The Hawks are also scheduled to meet Delaware, which made the poll’s biggest leap from 16th to ninth, next week and will take on 19th-ranked Boston College at the end of the month.

Michigan slipped four spots to 11th the Hawks will host the Wolverines on October 27 before visiting the top-ranked Tar Heels on November 3.

The Hawks will visit the Orange on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. before visiting Cornell on Sunday.
