HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Ritchie Barry scored in the third minute to lead the Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad to a 1-0 win over LIU at Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening. With their first win of the 2019 campaign, the Hawks improve to 1-2-0 while the Sharks fall to 2-1-0.

How It Happened
• Junior midfielder Ritchie Barry collected the rebound of junior midfielder Alvin Dahn's block shot and fired off the early match-winner into the back right corner just 2:34 into the match; Dahn picked up the assist for initiating the play.

Behind the Stats
• Sophomore goalkeeper Joseph Boehm (1-2-0) earned his first win of the season in net.
• The Hawks took six shots for the match, all within the first 21 minutes of the first half.
• The Sharks were held to just three total shots and just one shot on goal, which Boehm saved in the 74th minute.

Postgame Thoughts
"I thought it was a good game for our guys," said head coach Don D'Ambra following the match. "I think we were fortunate to get an early goal. Ritchie Barry has been playing really well, and he got a good strike on goal. We went up 1-0 and then just defended really, really well to get our first shutout. I was glad to see Michael Mullins come back after his suspension and fit in really well with the back line. LIU put a lot of pressure on us, and we withstood it for the whole match. We still have a lot of room for improvement, but to get our first win on the road and to put these last two games behind us and get back on track was really good for our guys' confidence and momentum."
