The Saint Joseph’s men’s rowing team earned two medals at the 2019 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, with the Third Varsity 8 winning gold and the Second Varsity 8 picking up a silver. It continues of a streak of four consecutive years where the Hawks earned at least one medal at the prestigious event.


The Hawks placed all three eights in the Grand Final with the Third Varsity 8 taking gold in 5:45.65 to finish ahead of Delaware. It was the fourth consecutive medal for that boat, and the second gold in three years.

The Second Varsity 8 placed second behind Drexel to earn silver, medaling for the for the third consecutive year.

SJU’s Varsity 8 had the second fastest time in Friday’s Time Trials, and then took second in the Semifinals to earn a spot in the Grand Final. The Hawks placed fourth to fall short of a medal as Colgate won the event.

SJU’s Varsity 4 won the Fifth Final, defeating Stockton.
