Saint Joseph's senior Alyssa Monaghan has been selected to the All-Big 5 Women's Basketball Second Team and named the leading free throw shooter, organization officials announced on Thursday.

Posting a career-best year, Monaghan led the Hawks in scoring (14.4 ppg), three-pointers (66) and assists (97), while averaging 37.1 minutes per game. An Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team selection, the Hawks' co-captain ranked second in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.400), third in free throw percentage (.849), fourth in three-point field goals made, fifth in scoring and sixth in assists. 

A staple in the Hawks’ lineup the past four seasons, Monaghan set a new SJU record for career minutes played (4,119) and capped her career third all-time in program history in three-pointers made (220) and three-pointers attempted (626), fifth all-time in free throw percentage (.840) and 12th in points (1,257 points). 

All award winners will be recognized at the annual Big 5 banquet on Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at The Palestra. Along with honoring both the women’s and men’s Big 5 award recipients, the Big 5 Hall of Fame Class of 2019 will be inducted.
