PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s junior Jordan DiValerio was voted the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

DiValerio tossed five strong innings on Friday, holding Kansas to just three hits and one run while striking out nine and walking one.  After allowing three hits in his first inning and a third, he retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced, eight of them via strikeout.

A native of Nescopeck, Pa., DiValerio has made three starts for the Hawks this season and leads the squad with 18 strikeouts in 12.1 innings; his 13.1 strikeouts per nine innings rank him third in the Atlantic 10.

The Hawks continue their stay in Florida this week with games against Bucknell and Central Connecticut on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
