PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s sophomore midfielder Ritchie Barry and freshman goalkeeper Joseph Boehm were named the Philadelphia Soccer Six Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their roles in the men’s soccer team’s 2-0 win over Navy last Tuesday night.
Barry scored his second goal of the season in the Hawks’ win over the Midshipmen on September 11. Hailing from Sparta, New Jersey, Barry has totaled six points in SJU’s seven matches thus far this season, ranking him fifth in the city in points per game. He also tallied a goal in the Hawks’ win over Sacred Heart on September 8.
A native of Colleyville, Texas, Boehm turned away four shots in posting his first collegiate clean sheet and backstopping the Hawks to their first-ever win over Navy. He followed that effort with three saves in SJU’s defeat at Manhattan on Saturday evening. His efforts in the net have led the Hawks to four victories on the season, matching the highest total in the city.
Barry, Boehm, and the Hawks continue their campaign on Wednesday evening when they host VMI at Sweeney Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., with streaming video available on ESPN+.
