The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team fell to Villanova, 1-0, Thursday evening at Sweeney Field

The Wildcats' Chloe O'Neill tallied the match's lone goal at 30:40 as she took a crossing pass by Bri Austin into the box and found the back of the net.

Saint Joseph's (4-2-2) had two quality scoring opportunities in the second half stopped at the goal line. Senior Dakota Mills' stike in the 59th minute  into an open net was thwarted by a defender at the goal line, while a header by senior Michaela Finneyfrock was cleared at the line in the 85th minute.

Finneyfrock finished the match with a team-best four shots, while Mills posted three shots on goal.

In net, senior Grace Bendon made three saves, but moved to 4-2-2 on the year with the loss.

The Hawks are back in action on Sunday when they cap non-conference play with a 1 p.m. match with Cornell.
