PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad (0-1-0) is set to face Saint Peter’s (0-1-0) in Jersey City, N.J. this Tuesday, August 28. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Lincoln Turf Field.

*Note: This match was previously scheduled to be played at 4:00 p.m. at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field (grass), but the field conditions were deemed unplayable.

Captained by senior defender Eddie McCusker, redshirt junior midfielder Lou Vilotti, and redshirt junior defender Mike Fornaro, Saint Joseph’s returns 17 Hawks, including eight starters from a season ago, and will sport a roster of six seniors, seven juniors, six sophomores, and 12 first-year players this fall. The Hawks opened the season with a 2-0 road loss at William and Mary (1-0-0) on Friday evening; freshman goalkeeper Joseph Boehm made four saves in his collegiate debut while sophomore midfielder Ritchie Barry led the way with a team-high three shots on goal on a team-high four shots.

Saint Peter’s, selected to finish 10th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (in a field of 11 teams), went 3-11-2 overall (2-8-0 MAAC) last fall. Midfielder/forward Jordan Jowers, who paced the Peacocks with eight goals, and goalkeeper Robbie Anderson, who played all 1494:12 in net for a 1.99 goals against average and .686 save percentage, both return for their sophomore seasons this fall.

The Peacocks dropped their season opener to Cal Baptist, 3-0, on Friday afternoon. Anderson made five saves.

Tuesday’s match will mark the fifth all-time meeting between Saint Joseph’s and Saint Peter’s, with the Hawks winning all four match-ups by a combined margin of 15-4 from 1973-74 and 1991-92.
