PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad will open the 2018 season at William and Mary this Friday, August 24, with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field down in Williamsburg, Va. Under the direction of ninth-year head coach Don D'Ambra, the Hawks are 3-4-1 in season-opening matches.

Captained by senior defender Eddie McCusker, redshirt junior midfielder Lou Vilotti, and redshirt junior defender Mike Fornaro, Saint Joseph’s returns 17 Hawks, including eight starters from a season ago, and will sport a roster of six seniors, seven juniors, six sophomores, and 12 first-year players this fall. William and Mary, a squad that received votes in the 2018 United Soccer Coaches National Preseason Poll and has been unanimously voted to claim the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship title, went 11-5-5 overall (3-2-3 CAA) last year, riding a 10-match unbeaten streak into the 2017 NCAA Tournament; the Tribe combined for nine goals over three matches to take home the CAA Championship title before falling to Columbia, 2-1 in double-overtime, in the NCAA First Round.
Forward/midfielder Antonio Bustamante (15g, 5a), a preseason All-American and the CAA’s Preseason Player of the Year, and forward Ryder Bell (7g, 10a) combined for 22 goals and 15 assists in 2017 and return as W&M’s 1-2 punch this year.
Friday’s match will mark the second all-time meeting between Saint Joseph’s and William and Mary; the teams first met in the 2005 season opener, where the Tribe took home an 8-0 victory in Williamsburg, Va.
