PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s senior defender Kristen Kelbon and junior attacker Rebecca Lane have been voted onto the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Lacrosse Team, which is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Kelbon earned a spot on the team for the second year in a row while Lane earns her first.

SJU's defensive anchor this spring, Kelbon ranked second on the team in ground balls (37) and third in caused turnovers (23) in all 19 starts on the back line. Kelbon scrapped for a career-high six ground balls at Temple and forced a career-high four caused turnovers at Wagner. Kelbon, who was voted onto the 2018 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and earned the 2018 Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship, went for 78 career ground balls and 50 career caused turnovers through 57 appearances and 46 starts over her four-year career on Hawk Hill. She graduated from Saint Joseph's this May with degrees in finance and accounting.

A 2018 Atlantic 10 First Team attacker, Lane led SJU in points (61) and assists (25) and tied for the team lead in goals (36), shots (80), free position goals (8, in 11 attempts), and game-winning goals (2) as the only offensive player to make all 19 starts for the Crimson and Gray. Lane averaged 3.21 poins per game on 1.89 goals per game and 1.32 assists per game and ranked sixth in the A-10 in total assists and ninth in total points. Lane scored in 15 games, turned in a career-high, nine-point performance on a season-high five goals and four helpers at Temple, scored her 100th career goal in just her 46th career game against Duquesne, and broke the program's career record for assists, which now stands at 78, vs. VCU. Lane majors in psychology and minors in English on Hawk Hill.

Two of five Hawks to start all 19 games, Kelbon and Lane captained SJU to the program's first-ever 12-win season en route to its third A-10 postseason appearance in as many years in 2018. Kelbon will set off for law school this fall while Lane will return for a much-anticipated senior season in 2019.

The duo is joined on the 14-member Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Lacrosse Team by Penn's Erin Barry, Alex Condon, and Gabby Rosenweig, Julia Galantich and Performer of the Year Hunter Leckonby of Chestnut Hill, Haverford's Allie Gibbons, Taylor Gretz and Liz Kramer of Rowan, Cabrini's Liz Hoeffner and Avery Murphy, Nicole Latgis of Temple, and Arcadia's Shannon Ryan.
