PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s women’s track and field senior high jumper Claudine Andre has qualified for the 2018 NCAA East Regional Preliminary Rounds and will compete this Thursday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of South Florida's Track and Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
The three-day meet will run from Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26 and will feature the top collegiate athletes east of the Mississippi River. For each individual event contested at each of the preliminary championships competition sites, the top 48 declared student-athletes are accepted into competition.
Andre posted a collegiate-best high jump mark of 5' 8 3/4" (1.75m) at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 6, and that mark ties for 32nd in the East. The senior will compete in the First Round, and the top 12 will advance to Oregon.
Note: Andre was originally scheduled to jump at 5:00 p.m., but events were moved up due to the weather forecast.
The NCAA West Preliminary Rounds will also run from May 24-26, hosted by Sacramento State at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
The qualifiers out of these regions will advance to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, to be held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from June 6-9.
