PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s junior righthander Tim Brennan was tabbed the Big 5 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
Brennan shared the honor with Penn’s John Alan Kendrick.
The Philadelphia native unfurled another strong outing on Saturday afternoon, holding George Mason to four hits in a complete-game effort as the Hawks came from behind for a 3-1 win. Brennan allowed a first-inning single and then retired 12 consecutive batters; he finished the day with just one run allowed while striking out five and walking one.
Brennan is 8-3 on the season, setting a new career high for victories in a season. The walk he issued on Saturday was just his fifth of the season and first since March 30; he currently ranks second in Division I in strikeout-to-walk ratio, having fanned 75 on the season.
The Hawks will wrap up the 2018 campaign this week with a home series against Massachusetts. First pitch in the series opener is set for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Senior Day ceremonies are planned for Friday.
