The Saint Joseph’s men’s rowing team collected two silver medals and one bronze at the 80th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

The Hawks had advanced all of their four boats to the Grand Finals in the nation’s largest collegiate regatta.

The Hawks crew was comprised of: c- Courtney McDonnell; 8- Jason Peacock; 7- Rob McCullough 6- Patrick Ganter; 5- Collin Petersen 4- Mike Thompson; 3- Gavin O'Connor; 2- John Thompson; 1- Jansen Kachel.

"I am very proud of the way our entire program competed this weekend. All four boats made the Grand Finals and we brought home three medals in the eights events. It always stings to lose tight races to our rivals on the Schuylkill but that's what makes rowing in Philadelphia so compelling," said head coach Mike Irwin. "We wanted to prove that our team success in 2017 was not a one-time event. The speed at the top of the Dad Vail is getting stronger each year and we hope to be able to return to the men's national championships in June to show how far we have come over the last two seasons "

Saint Joseph’s also boated a Freshman 4 which placed fourth in the regatta, with a lineup of: c- Alex Mayo; 4- Nate Tobey; 3- Harris Beckmeyer; 2- Jack Yeager; 1- Robbie McElligott.
